POSITION:
This beautiful and culturally significant 4.5 acre park site is located just minutes from the cities of Gilroy and Morgan Hill. The park features the beautiful Uvas Creek and a wealth of cultural artifacts including bedrock mortars and petroglyphs left by the Amah Mutsun Tribe who occupied the area for thousands of years prior to arrival of the Spanish in the late 1700s. The park includes a self-guided interpretive walk and an interpretive shelter focusing on tribal culture and the Adams schoolhouse which was located on this property from the 1850s until 1956
Assist park staff with school programs at Chitactac Adams Heritage County Park! Field trips focus on the traditions of the Amah Mutsun people who lived here for more than 3000 years.
Docents lead groups of 10-15 students from the 3rd and 4th grades along Uvas Creek in educational activities such as: acorn processing, local wildlife, and traditional games.
REQUIREMENTS:
Weekday morning fieldtrips
Public speaking experience
Experience working with youth
Complete all required training
Pass Live Scan background check
Provide own transportation

Description
Since 1924, when Stevens Creek County Park was established, people have given their time and talents to help make Santa Clara County Parks special places to visit. In 2010, nearly 2000 volunteers donated over 40,000 hours of service to a variety of projects and programs.
Become a County Parks Volunteer and see how you can play an important role in protecting and enhancing our parklands. What's more, our volunteer events are fun -- come join us to "Go Outside and Play!"
