The American Cancer Society is seeking motivated, outgoing individuals to fill Volunteer Coordinator positions in Monroe County, Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Wyoming, and Berks Counties. Volunteer Coordinators are essential to schedule volunteer drivers who will provide transportation assistance to cancer patients. Requirements of this volunteer position: Must be at least 18, have a clear background check, participate in a short volunteer orientation, good communication skills, be computer savvy, be familiar with Microsoft office. The coordinator must have Internet access laptop or IPad, email and a phone. A short orientation and training session will be provided. The hours are flexible and a volunteer coordinator may spend about 5 to 10 hours a week, calling drivers, answering emails for ride requests and scheduling drivers for rides. They can volunteer from home or go to our Taylor office. The ideal candidate would be a retired administrative secretary, someone with volunteer management skills, human resources experience, someone with office and computer skills, retiree, someone who works part time or has been affected by cancer . We are also looking for volunteer road coordinators who can cover road coordination for road coordinators while they are out of town. Fill in coordinators are needed for Lehigh, Northampton, Wayne, Pike, Schuylkill, Carbon, Lackawanna, Monroe, Wyoming, Susquehanna, and Luzerne County.
Road To Recovery is an American Cancer Society program designed to help improve the quality of life and reduce barriers to care for cancer patients undergoing active treatment by transporting them to and from cancer-related treatment appointments. Volunteer Road to Recovery drivers are also needed. Volunteer drivers need to be at least 18 to 84, have a good driving record, valid PA license, proof of insurance, a clear background check, and attend a short orientation session.
