ORGANIZATION: Groveport Community School

Board of Directors of nonprofit corporation is seeking an individual interested in advancing and supporting education by serving as a Board Member. The community school operates in the Columbus area.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience with non-profit boards, strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills, ability to interpret financial statements or a commitment to learn about the finances of a community school, and sufficient availability to perform Board duties and attend monthly Board meetings.

The Board is committed to fulfilling the school's mission of providing an equitable education in a nurturing learning environment that ensures all students will be successful. Experience in any of the following areas is encouraged, but not required: Finance/Accounting, Education, Legal, Human Resources, Public Health, Marketing and Communication and Strategic Planning.

Board Members are asked to actively participate on the Board and with the goings-on of the school. Board Members may be asked to participate in working groups outside of the Board, attend an annual Board-retreat, and participate in the evaluation of the operations of the school and its leaders.

Description

Groveport Community School is a charter elementary and middle school. The School provides an alternative to traditional public schools that have been ineffective in meeting certain family and student learning needs and is an alternative to cost-prohibitive private schools. The School traditionally serves students who have either been displaced or underserved by traditional public schools.
