Mission

Ronald McDonald House Charities-Upper Midwest in partnership with our community provides a comfortable and caring home-away-from-home that supports keeping families together and reduces stress during a child’s serious illness. RMHC-UM operates four locations across the Twin Cities, serving over 5,000 families a year, providing 71 overnight rooms, meals, and activities for families with kids facing a medical crisis.

Job Summary

This intern will assist in the screening and onboarding of new volunteers and will assist with managing data entry for current volunteers. This intern will have the opportunity to conduct interviews, reference checks, orientations, and other human resources related activities for the volunteer department.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct phone interviews with potential new volunteers
  • Conduct reference checks
  • Send out and receive background checks
  • Check that immunizations are complete
  • Conduct orientations for new volunteers
  • Assist in managing the online volunteer calendar
  • Data entry for the volunteer department
  • Other assignments as needed

Preferred Education and Experience

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • College Sophomore status or higher. Does not need to be for college credit

Competencies/Skills

  • College Sophomore status or higher. Does not need to be for college credit
  • Self-starter who is comfortable working independently
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good attention to detail and organization
  • Professional telephone manner
  • Strong comfort level with computers and data entry
  • Criminal Background check and Immunizations required

We provide a warm and welcoming community of support and respite for families with seriously-ill or injured children. Across our five locations, we welcome 76 families each night for overnight services, as well as hundreds of day-visitors. Services include:

  • An accredited K-12 school
  • Workout facilities
  • Supportive, family-focused programming
