About

Hana Center (4300 N. California Ave) hosts an ESL table at one of our partner senior housings, Heiwa Terrace, owned by the Japanese American Service Committee.

Each Wednesday, there are appointments of 1 hour time slots that seniors sign up for to have conversation practice, writing practice, citizenship tutoring, and anything else that the student-client may want to work on with a native English speaker.

We are specifically looking for Mandarain, Japanese, and Korean familiar (fluent would be great!) volunteers. Although the housing is owned by the Japanese American community, the residents are diverse! English levels range from true beginner, to high advanced. This is a great way to give back to the community, and fine tune your tutoring skills!

Orientation/ESL tutor training provided, free.
