Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the 56 th Annual Independence Festival & Fireworks event at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido!
FACE PAINTING
Duties: Painting simple, patriotic images onto children’s faces & assistance with cleanup at 8pm. All materials (face paint, brushes, paper towels, images, etc.) will be provided. Volunteer face painters are allowed to have a tip jar and you may take your earnings home at the end of the day!
Volunteers are also needed to supervise/manage the face painting line at the entrance and exit to help guests go to an open painter when they are ready, to ensure that guests do not cut the line, and to monitor the closing of the line at 8:00pm.
Number of Volunteers Needed: 10-12 volunteers
Face Painting: 4pm-8:30pm
- 4-4:30pm set up/prep
- 4:30-8pm face painting open
- 8-8:30 clean up
ARTIST-LED CHALK MURAL & LESSONS
Duties: Monitoring the art activity tables, crowd control, passing out and keeping track of supplies, keeping art areas clean and stocked, direct and keep guests at different areas on the mural, & assistance with cleanup at 8:00pm. Experience working with children is a plus!
Number of Volunteers Needed: 5-10 volunteers
Chalk Mural & Lessons: 4:30-8:30pm
- 4:30-5pm set up/prep
- 5-8pm assist with chalk activities
- 8-8:30pm clean up

With a mission of bringing people together to discover, create and celebrate both the visual and performing arts, the California Center for the Arts, Escondido is the cultural center of North San Diego County.
Description
The Center’s unique campus includes a 1,500-seat concert hall, a 400-seat theater, a contemporary art museum, art and dance studios, and a full-service conference center with meeting and banquet facilities ready to host corporate gatherings, weddings and other special life events.
The Center also runs an extensive education program and produces free community events, such as the Jazz Jam Sessions, 4th of July celebration, Day of the Dead Festival, Holiday Tree Lighting and WOW First Wednesdays performances.
The Center’s activities are guided by a Board of Trustees and an administration and staff who are dedicated to furthering arts entertainment and arts education in the community, by sustaining and expanding programs that provide cultural enrichment for residents of North County and beyond.
