Volunteers typically assist in caring for animals. Acitivies include providing food and water to animals, cleaning kennels and cat room, washing bedding (on-site), walking dogs, playing with cats and dogs.

Other volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to maintining the shlter property (cutting grass and building maintenance), constructing the wildlife center, and adding fencing to the property. We need volunteers of all types. Volunteers are welcome to visit the shelter during business hours.

If you need more flexibility or would like to help us from home, please consider volunteering as a grant writer.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to prevent cruelty, neglect, provide methods for animal adoptions, and educate the public about low cost spay and neuter programs. It is our intent to temporarily house rescued wild animals for release and adoptable domestic animals for adoption to the public. We also host a food pantry to aid in keeping families together during hard times.

Description

We are a NO kill animal shelter serving Morgan County, Alabama. All animals are spayed or neutered before being placed in a loving home. MCHS is operated by volunteers, and is a certifying organizations for the Presidental Volunteer Service Award.
