Youth Summer Day Camp Volunteer

ORGANIZATION: Treasure Valley Family YMCA

Volunteer with the YMCA

What's unique about a Y summer? When school's out, it's time to relax, decompress, and have fun with friends. Yet taking a break from school does not mean kids development is on vacation. Summertime at the Y focuses on the three key drivers of impact that inspire healthy youth development journeys: achievement, relationships and belonging. Through Y summer programs and camps, the social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development of all youth are nurtured and celebrated, resulting in the BEST SUMMER EVER.

By volunteering to assist with our youth day camps, you will be responsible for:

  • Consistently engaging with youth in activities and encouraging other youth to participate.
  • Maintaining a positive and upbeat attitude.
  • Assisting with activities and projects.
  • Helping staff manage children and groups.
  • Role model the Y’s core values.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for everyone.
Most of our summer day camps run for a week at a time throughout the summer and we ask that volunteers are able to commit to at least one full week of camps if possible. Times are mornings, afternoons or all day depending on the camp. If this sounds like the perfect opportunity for you, please visit http://www.ymcatvidaho.org/support-our-cause/volunteer/ to complete the volunteer application and be sure to indicate you would like to help with the youth summer day camps. Must submit to background & reference checks, and orientation will be provided prior to start of shift. Orientation is schedule for June 3rd at 11am at the Downtown YMCA.
