Summer Camp Volunteers:
GuitarStars is a summer camp for kids ages 7-12. They learn to play guitar or bass guitar, are put into bands with their peers, and do arts and crafts. The camp is from 8am - 5pm, July 10-14, 2017. The week-long camp culminates with a performance by the kids that is open to the community.
Volunteers should be comfortable with kids in this age range. Some volunteer responsibilities include overseeing arts & crafts and helping students with guitar and bass. Being able to read music is a plus but not a requirement.
The training session for this camp is Thursday 7/6 from 4-6pm.

Description
Rock to the Future provides free music programs in school, after school, and over the summer for Philadelphia youth from underserved neighborhoods. As Rock to the Future students collaborate, create, and perform, they learn life skills, gain confidence, learn motivation, and feel pride. Through music, our students are empowered, and learn self- and social-awareness and to respect and appreciate peers and adults from diverse backgrounds.
We create an environment where kids of all ages and abilities feel confident, safe, and respected enough to perform on stage. No matter what instrument or style of music they choose, we create the support structure that allows our students to learn at their own pace and in their own way. The confidence needed to be a musician, bandmate, songwriter, and performer transfers to all stages of life.
