**This is a one-year position at 826CHI through AmeriCorps. The position has a term of August 2017-August 2018**
826CHI is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. Our services are structured around the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention, and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success.826CHI will work with an AmeriCorps VISTA member to support development initiatives centered around donor and data management. Throughout the year, the Student Impact and Data Coordinator will help establish a system of best practices for tracking and archiving student, family, and teacher data; evaluations; and program attendance. Additionally, they will help expand 826CHI’s base of support through grant research, proposal writing, reporting, and donor management. 826CHI seeks someone with a passion for expanding access to creative youth development in Chicago. This person should be a strong writer, highly detail oriented, analytical, and able to thrive working both independently and with a team.

With this in mind, we provide after-school tutoring, weekend workshops, in-schools tutoring, help for English language learners, and assistance with student publications. All of our programs are challenging and enjoyable, and ultimately strengthen each student’s power to express ideas effectively, creatively, confidently, and in their individual voice.

826CHI is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist with our writing programs, as well as with other aspects of the organization (supporting the Wicker Park Secret Agent Supply Co., providing graphic design and illustration for our student publications).
