ORGANIZATION: Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre

Role summary:

  • To share exciting information with guests about the animals that live here

  • Bringing guests closer to what they are learning about

  • Be present, approachable and friendly in the galleries to guests

  • Handle animal props responsibly while sharing them with guests

Desired skills and experience:

  • Be able to present to groups of people (small and large)

  • Be comfortable speaking about biology

  • Any extra languages you speak are an added bonus!

  • Be able to stand on your feet for 4 hours at a time (no sitting during your shift, unless you are on break).

  • Any nature, science, diving, water, research, biology, chemistry experience an asset, but NOT required.

Commitment:

  • One-four hour shift weekly

  • Min. 50 hour commitment

Work environment:

  • Indoors and Outdoors of the Aquarium

  • May be in heat or rain

  • Be dressed appropriately for the weather

Shifts Available:

  • Monday - Friday; 10:15 am - 2:45 pm

  • Monday - Sunday; 12:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Training:

  • Core #1 training Sept 24, 27, 30 or Oct 12; 8:30 am - 2:30 pm

  • Core #2 training Oct 5 or Oct 15Sunday, June 4; 8:30 am - 2:30 pm

  • Specific training Oct 17; 5:15 pm - 9:00 pm
