ORGANIZATION: San Diego Canyonlands

Hollywood UCSD Students

Join Hollywood Canyon neighbors, community volunteers and San Diego Canyonlands for this 4th Saturday routine stewardship event in the canyon as part of our Urban Greening Project. Help us to create a healthy habitat for wildlife and a safe place for recreation in the City Heights community of San Diego. All ages welcome!

Volunteers will care for our native plantings, remove invasive plants and remove trash and debris from our restoration areas.

This canyon is adjacent to Hollywood Park which has bathrooms on site. This benefit makes this a great event for families.

Community service hours documentation provided to those who need it. Volunteers under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a youth waiver to participate in our events. This waiver can be found going to the following website: http://www.sdcanyonlands.org/images/pdfs/Parks_and_Rec_Indiv_or_youth_vol.waiver.pdf. Wear sturdy shoes or boots and a hat and bring a water bottle and sunscreen. Tools and gloves provided.

Please contact Miranda Hyldahl at miranda@sdcanyonlands.org or (360) 223-0280 with questions.
For day-of questions, please contact Elena McKeown at (973) 903-6208.

About San Diego Canyonlands

Location:

5106 Federal Blvd, #205, SAN DIEGO, CA 92105, US

Mission Statement

San Diego Canyonlands' mission is to promote, protect and restore the natural habitats in San Diego County's canyons and creeks. We do this by fostering education and ongoing community involvement in stewardship and advocacy, and by collaborating with other organizations.

Description

During the monthly events, we would like volunteers to help us remove trash, invasive non-native plants, plant native plants in restoration sites, maintain trails, and do other exciting work to enhance the canyon. Our urban canyons and creeks are critical to the health of the San Diego ecosystems.
