Purpose/Objective

Camp Move is a nine-week program supporting grade-school students, helping them stay active and healthy through a regular schedule of exercise during summer break and educating them on the benefits of nutrition, healthy eating, and lifetime wellness. At the end of each summer, Camp Move students leave the program with fitness tools that help them encourage friends and family members to stay active, too. Camp Move is a SAY San Diego licensed childcare vacation program.

We are looking for an experienced Sports Coach interested in volunteering with CAMP MOVE who is specialized in delivering in one or more sports (basketball, volleyball, soccer, and softball) to provide opportunities for the promotion of health, fitness and nutrition.

June 26 th , 2017 - August 11 th , 2017

Number of Volunteers:

2-4 on-going volunteers

Key Responsibilities:

~Must be able to provide your own sports equipment

~Plan and develop a variety of sport, recreation, leisure activities and cultural group activities

~Explain the rules of the activities and instruct participants at a variety of skill levels

~Organize and set up the equipment that is used in the recreational activities

~Monitor and maintain the use of recreation equipment and facilities

~Work under the direction and supervision of Site Supervisor and SAY San Diego afterschool staff

Qualifications:

~Must be at least 18 years old

~Must be cleared through TB test, drug test, background check

~Must provide proof of immunization for Measles, Pertussis, Influenza and flu shot

~Will be asked to provide references

~Must have reliable transportation

Time Commitment:

Option 1:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 10:30am-11:30am or 2:00pm-3:00pm

Option 2:

Tuesday and Thursday 10:30am-11:30am or 2:00pm-3:00pm

*Days of the week are flexible

Training and Support:

Will receive support, supervision, and guidance from Site Supervisor

~Will be invited to attend our annual Volunteer Recognition Lunch in June

~Working with youth, people of all ages and diverse groups

~Motivate others who are dedicated and passionate about recreational activities

~Acquire knowledge and skills in the areas of leadership, programming, and communication,

~Articulate the value and benefits of recreation

~Become involved in the strengthening of your own neighborhoods and communities

~Participate in meaningful work resulting in a sense of accomplishment

~Develop an appreciation for teamwork and shared goals

~Improve your own life and the lives of others in practical and long-lasting ways
