LP PENCIL Box is a free school supply store for Metro Nashville Schools. It provides basic school supplies to teachers for their disadvantaged students. If you have a passion for volunteerism, please contact us. There are a variety of skills that can be used at LP PENCIL Box, including computer skills, photo and video talent, marketing skills, etc. We also need volunteers to assist teachers with locating supplies in the store, help sort donations, restock shelves, and assist in the general upkeep of the store. Plus, volunteering at "The Box" provides valuable work skills and experience! We need Shopping Assistants to help check teachers in and out and generally create a positive environment in the store.
Shifts are available anytime between 2PM-6PM, Tuesdays through Thursdays. There are many activities you may work on during your volunteer experience, including: Explaining all shopping procedures--including how to fill out the Shopping List and answer questions about shopping; keeping the clipboards at the front desk filled with Shopping Lists; giving teachers their homework assignment of writing thank you notes to our donors; keeping the store tidy and straightened--a clean area combined with a warm greeting and good-bye may be the most important job you can do at The Box; working on various tasks assigned by staff. Interested? Email Joel Wright at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information, or check out our website at www.PENCILforSchools.org.
If you are unable to volunteer during the week, we have one Saturday each month when volunteers are needed to help with teacher shopping. LP PENCIL Box is sponsored by PENCIL Foundation, in collaboration with the LP Foundation - the charitable arm of Louisiana-Pacific Corporation. The project is made possible by a generous donation from the LP Foundation, which has also agreed to provide a matching grant to encourage other donors. As a major partnership between the Nashville business community and Nashville public schools, LP PENCIL Box encourages companies and individuals to donate both new school supplies and surplus office supplies. These items will be distributed from the center located in the McCann ALC at 1300 56th Ave. North. Please email Joel Wright if interested (email@example.com). We look forward to meeting you!
