Women In Pain Conference Highlights

Calling all volunteers! We are gearing up for our 10th annual event this fall, and we need your help!

In honor of our 10th year of devotion to women in pain, we will be holding a special Change Agent Pain Summit in the hopes of promoting discussion across different professional disciplines and affecting positive changes for those impacted bychronic pain.

Are you a self-starter interested in the many facets of chronic pain, who wants to make a difference?

For Grace is seeking volunteers for our 2017 Change Agent Pain Summit, an event bringing together decision-makers from different professions to affect much-needed change for women in pain living in California.

This volunteer opportunity is approximately 10-15 hours per week. Those selected will play a critical role in the collection and analysis of information necessary for the content of the September summit.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the collection of information during phone interviews with professionals who have a role to play in the application of the National Pain Strategy
  • Typing up notes in desired format and desired time frame.
  • Provide analysis of the mostly quantitative data collected during interviews.
  • Present outstanding patterns found in data to summit to committee members.

Information collected will be used to determine Change Agent Pain Summit topics of discussion and summit attendees.

Skills and Competencies

  • College or higher level of education preferred.
  • Self-starter.
  • Interest in and understanding of some of the following topics: Chronic pain, public health, health care administration, health care public policy, quantitative data and the National Pain Strategy.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and social media.
  • Proficient writer.
  • Organized and efficient at note-taking.
  • Personable.

For Grace's main goal is to increase awareness of the gender disparity women experience worldwide in the assessment and treatment of their pain.

We believe empowering women to be better consumers for their pain management care, sensitizing healthcare professionals to gender pain disparities and enlightening public policy makers about pain as a major health issue will improve life outcomes for all women in pain.

For Grace is a project of Community Partners, a highly-regarded 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Its incubator program offers mentoring and administrative assistance to enable emerging nonprofits, such as For Grace, to successfully meet their goals.
