Best Friends National Conference - where people, passion and purpose come together to Save Them All

The Best Friends National Conference is coming to the Harrah's Waterfront Conference Center in New Jersey July 13-16. And we could really use your help to make it a big success. The assembly lead manages our storage unit and inventory pre-event and then oversees to volunteer shifts setting up for the conference.

Function:

• Coordinate pre-event assembly volunteers & processes under the direction of staff leader

Goals:

• Ensure the pre-event assembly process is smooth and efficient

Core responsibilities and Time Commitment:

• Starting the end of May, make weekly visits to the storage unit to inventory all packages delivered.

• Location - The Storage Inn - Egg Harbor Township Self Storage 2527 Fire Road Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08234

• Inventory must be done during business hours

• Maintain the "2017 BF National Conference Supplies" Google Doc, organize the inventory as packages arrive, and become familiar with the contents of the storage area by the time contents are ready to be transported to the conference venue. Being familiar with the contents will streamline the loading, unloading, and assembly processes.

• Oversee two volunteer shifts

• Tuesday July 11, 2017 5:30 - 6:30 pm - Meet volunteers and staff at storage to pack up contents of storage unit.

• Wednesday July 12th 9:00 am - 3 pm oversee volunteers with unloading and bag Assembly process.

• Coordinate and oversee the volunteers loading and unloading all supplies from the storage unit to the conference venue. Best Friends will provide a truck.

• As supplies are being unloaded at the conference venue, provide direction as to where everything goes.

• Train all pre-event assembly volunteers to perform the following (directions will be given to the Assembly Team Leader in advance by Best Friends staff):

• Assemble speaker bags

• Other tasks needed in preparation for the conference

• Work with staff lead to be informed about all required assembly projects.

• Help ensure the badges are put together correctly.

• Participate in a post-event meeting detailing what worked, what didn’t, and include suggestions for the following year

Qualifications:

• Organized and attention to detail

• Familiar with Google Docs, or ability to easily learn new applications

• Ability to lift at least 20 lbs

• Ability to provide own transportation to and from the storage unit and Conference venue

• Ability to bend, stoop, walk, kneel, and stand for long periods of time

• Comfortable providing directions and assistance to others

• Customer service experience a plus

• Must be at least 21 years of age

Priority Deadlines:

• Post-event debrief meeting completed within two weeks of conference end.
