Event Description:

SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM

Afternoon Instructor 9am-12pm

Purpose: The AweSTEM Summer program is open to all 6th, 7th or 8th grade students in the metro Detroit area.

Explorations in STEM - can teach the basics of engineering and structural design. Students will discover how engineering works through K'Nex sets and various hands-on experiments.

We are looking for 2 volunteers to teach a half day (4 hr.) session for 2 week; 40 hours total.

Date: July 17-August 10 (Monday- Thursday)

Time: 9am-12pm (Morning)

Time: 1pm-4pm (Afternoon)

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Classroom Management- Ability to manage a classroom of middle school students (6-8th grade)
  • Knowledge and experience teaching the related discipline (Programming or Engineering)

Additional Information:

We ask that you are able to commit to the entire 2 weeks for consistency for the students.

If you choose, you can also be the instructor for the morning classes from 12pm-4pm.

Volunteers for this activity will be subject to a background check.
