The Down Syndrome FOUNDATION of Florida is holding a 5 day bike camp July 30 - August 4, 2018 from 8:15-5:00 (M-F). (Sunday, July 29 is a 2 hour orientation in the afternoon time TBD for parents and volunteers.) The camp will teach individuals with Down syndrome and other unique abilities to ride a conventional two-wheel bicycle and become independent riders. About 80% of the participants are able to ride independently in less than a week’s time. You can help a rider to achieve this major milestone. We are looking for volunteers to help with administrative duties and be volunteer spotters for our riders. Volunteer spotters need to be able to run/walk for 75 minutes as the participant becomes more competent in his/her skills. This has been one of our volunteers' favorite events as they experience the joy of watching someone learn to ride a bike and open up new worlds for themselves. Take a moment to watch this short video to see what camp is all about: http://video214.com/play/wTdWrrSPKPSPhOatp398gQ/s/dark.
