Hillside Health Care International (HHCI) is actively seeking a volunteer Medical Director for Hillside Clinic in southern Belize for at least a six month commitment. Hillside is a non-profit organization that provides free medical care, community outreach and health education as well as offering educational rotations for medical trainees and leadership development for local staff.

Hillside Clinic provides primary medical care, physical therapy, home health care, pharmacy, and community outreach and education for residents in the Toledo District. Services are provided year-round at the outpatient clinic in Eldridgeville and in 16 rural villages. Students, staff, and volunteers also work in Punta Gorda and surrounding communities.

The Medical Director has primary responsibility for the provision of patient care and educational programs at Hillside Clinic. The Medical Director also serves as director of the Medicine Program for medicine, physician assistant, and nurse practitioner students on rotations. This position works in close collaboration with the Clinic Director and maintains a supportive, professional and collaborative leadership role with all program directors, volunteers, staff, stateside operations, and Board of Directors.

BENEFITS INCLUDE: Stipend for living expenses; housing; 4 weeks of vacation per year; visa, work permit, and licensing processing assistance and related costs for Belize.

QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified candidates are Physicians. A current medical license to practice in the country of origin is required and candidate must qualify for licensure in Belize.

We offer global health education to medical, pharmacy, rehabilitation and public health students, providing them the opportunity to learn while serving.

Description

During our 20 years in Toledo, Hillside Clinic has provided the manpower, medications and supplies for our year-round outpatient clinic, mobile clinics to more remote villages, community health outreach programs, home health care, and physical therapy services. For many villagers the Hillside Clinic is their primary source for health care services and medicines. Through our comprehensive health care services, including medications and community outreach programs Hillside significantly and positively impacts the health and well-being of Toledo residents. In addition to mobile medical and community outreach services, Hillside operates a clinic outside of Punta Gorda, Belize. Working in partnership with the Belize Ministry of Health, Hillside Health Care International serves one of the most culturally diverse, impoverished regions of the country. In addition to health care services, Hillside offers clinical rotations for medical, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, physical therapy, pharmacy, and public health students.
