The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
Supper Club Lead (3-4 hrs/class, preferred commitment of 3/5 parts of workshop series) - select curriculum and recipes for the class, share recipes/shopping list with shopper, facilitate conversation, and cooking instructions in class. Ability to lead and multi-task in a fast-paced community environment is preferred.
Supper Club Shopper (2-4 hours/class, preferred commitment to 3/5 parts of workshop series) - work with a Supper Club Lead to source food from the community and prepare all items necessary for class. Lift UP is currently partnered with 5 sources for gleaning, and each building has been allocated funds to sustain the class series.
Drop-in Nutritionist or Dietitian(1 hr/class) - participants would benefit to have a dietitian or nutritionist present for 3 out of the 7 classes that are offered. Volunteers will work with Lead to receive itinerary and objectives for the class. This is a great space for students and professionals alike to share their valuable knowledge with the community!
