Texas State Aquarium

Naturalists are "volunteer teachers" who share their knowledge of the Aquarium animals and habitats with the guests. The only thing you need to bring is enthusiasm and the ability to work a 3-hour shift once a week. We provide the training. This is a high public interaction position working towards a goal of ultimate guest satisfaction.

Training is done with a staff interpretor or guide and is "on-the-job".

  • Receive training and content information on all major exhibit galleries

  • Work independently to proactively engage and converse with guests at and about exhibits

  • Instruct guests in and demonstrate proper handling techniques of animals and TSA property through interpretive methods

  • Provide exceptional guest service to create a quality and memorable guest experience

  • Interpret TSA's stories in all exhibits

  • Work as a team with other volunteers and TSA staff
