CCK

We are clearing roughly 60,000 square feet of land in order to create an outdoor learning enviornment for our non-profit early learning center! We want our children to learn about nature and gain an appreciation for the environment! Additionally, we want them to be able to explore the woods freely. First, we need to clear the land of brush and debris (we are leaving the trees) before we can put in a fence. This is an ongoing project and we need as many people as possible to help! Thank you so much!

Mission Statement

A group of professionals came together to meet a shared goal -a desire to find a facility in the Knoxville area that would provide competent childcare in an environment that would enrich the quality of life and promote the development of their babies and young children. This group of individuals was generally well educated and desired to be employed on a full-time basis, but also wanted to ensure that their children were cared for properly. They were willing to pay for the quality of service they desired and needed, but were unable to find this level of service. They set about, therefore, to establish a facility that could provide these services.

Description

Through our history, The Children’s Center has maintained the same philosophy. The Children’s Center of Knoxville, Inc. believes that each child is each child is unique and worthy of the special attention needed to develop to his or her maximum potential. To that end, our program is planned to help each child build upon his or her strengths and to enhance the child’s opportunities for growth where needed. Social skills, emotional health, self-development, and education are all considered areas of importance to be given attention at these young age levels. The Center recognizes that parents are the child’s primary caregivers and recognizes the importance of working closely with families, planning together with them, and keeping communication channels constantly open.

The Center is currently licensed for 120 children ranging in age from six weeks through five years. (The current roll allows for 116 children, as one classroom has been closed down to make a rainy day play area when the children cannot play outside.) Ten classrooms staffed by a lead teacher and assistant teacher ensuring individualized attention and a program that provides developmentally appropriate activities.

Currently, 50% of all children served are from low-income families. Thirty children are able to attend CCK with a CAC certificate from the Department of Human Services, and twenty children are able to attend with a private scholarship from the United Way and The Children’s Center of Knoxville, Inc.
