NAMIWalks 2017

Sponsorship/In-Kind Sponsorship Chair:____________________________________________

Duties: recruiting new sponsors, following up with previous sponsors, filling out sponsorship request forms. Sponsorship brochures and letters will be provided by NAMI Mississippi. Requests are to be coordinated with the Walk Manager to ensure duplicate asks do not occur. Keep in mind, in-kind gifts of food, a/v equipment, advertising, rental trucks, etc. are great ways for businesses to help! Our goal is to raise $20,000 in sponsorships, and an additional $2,000 in in-kind sponsorships.

Team Chair:___________________________ ________________________________________

Duties: work closely with the Walk Manager as the liaison between the Walk Committee and the Team Captains. Communicate with and train other Team Captains through calls, emails to provide coaching on ways to increase their team size and solicit donations. Tools will be provided to assist in this process, including sample letters, emails and training materials. Consider being a "Super Team" which commits to recruiting TEN teams under your umbrella team. We ask that teams set a goal of at least 10 people, raising $100 each to reach the team goal of $1,000. Our goal is to recruit 5 teams to raise $5000 in each affiliate.

Outreach Chair:_______________________________________________________________

Work with the Affiliate Walk Team Captains to conduct outreach at various outreach events and distribute brochures and posters to affiliates and local businesses. The goal is to complete at least one outreach event in each affiliate before walk day (7 outreach events total) to recruit 20 new NAMIWalks participants for each affiliate and distribute 20 posters and 20 brochures in local businesses throughout the region.

Public Relations/Marketing Chair:________________________________________________

Duties: helping write press releases, send out calendar advisories, distributing brochures to local businesses, securing air time on local radio shows, hanging posters at your favorite coffee shop or restaurant, talking about the Walk on social media.

Elected Officials Outreach Chair:__________________________________________________

Duties: outreach to state and local elected officials to see if they will participate in and/or lend their name and/or a letter of support to the Walk.

Volunteer Chair:______________________________________________________________

Duties: work with the Walk Manager and Walk Day Logistics Coordinator to recruit, assign and manage Walk Day volunteers. The Volunteer Chair will be the point of contact for those interested in volunteering, will keep track of their names and contact info, organize volunteers in various teams needed for Walk activities, and manage volunteers on Walk Day.

Event Logistics Chair:___________________________________________________________

Duties: work with the Walk Manager to coordinate the logistics for the Kick-Off Luncheon and the Walk Day itself. Examples: tables, signage, parking, exhibit set up, registration location, entertainment, rentals, food, music, and more.

NAMI MS is a non-profit, grassroots organization dedicated to providing support, education, and advocacy for consumers of mental health services and their families. NAMI MS works to foster greater public awareness of serious mental illness and to overcome stigma and misconceptions that are associated with mental illness.

We work to educate families, consumers, professionals and the general public through free educational classes as well as support groups state-wide. We advocate at the state and national levels to protect the rights and promote the welfare of people with mental illness. Our goal is to ensure quality services and continuity of care.

The primary functions of NAMI are support, education, and advocacy for consumers (individuals with a mental illness diagnosis) and their families; for research and services; and for the education of all professionals, providers, and the general public.
