LEAD the Way is a program for high school students (juniors and seniors only) and college students who are interested in gaining work experience in a professional environment with the City of Burbank Parks and Recreation Department.

LEAD the Way offers participants the opportunity to participate in trainings and facilitations that will assist in building necessary skills to apply to various avenues of future employment.

The program includes 4 weeks of taining on various topics such as: Customer service/Phone Etiquette, Effective Communication, Resume Writing and More!

These facilitations will aslo include guest speakers, hands on trainings, and personal assignments with feedback from program coordinator.

After the training period, participants will be placed at a Parks and Recreation office/center to put their skills and learnings into practice. They will be working directly with Parks and Recreation staff to learn the resources and programs available throught he department.

In their final week, participants will be able to submit an updated resume, review initial goals and objectives of the program, and receive feedback from staff and coordinators.

This program is voluntary and hours can be applied to service learning hours or towards internship experience. LEAD the Way requires a 6 month commitment, in addition to being available for a minimum of 8 - 12 hours a week/3 days a week.
