Bright Light Volunteers is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization, designed to empower program participants and community partners through education and service. Specifically, our programs adhere to global service-learning best practices, which combine community service with both experiential learning in the field and online coursework through our university partner. Our vision is to make the world a brighter place by creating a more peaceful, just, interconnected world where global challenges and opportunities are met by educated, compassionate, global citizens and leaders.

The Grant Writer will be responsible for researching, identifying, developing, and responding to grant opportunities from public and private funding sources with the goal of securing revenue to support Bright Light Volunteers' mission and long-term strategic plan. The Grant Writer will provide program staff with support in the administration of grants and communication with funding partners.

We have started a scholarship campaign to provide students from low income communities the opportunity to participate in this life changing experience and give them the opportunity to become the global leaders our future so greatly needs.

Our scholarship plan would allow up to 20 students from rural, southern Title I schools to participate in our international service programs. Working with our partner university in Tennessee, students enroll in a dual-enrollment online course that will prepare them for their experience serving abroad. Students receive three hours of transferrable college credit, a Certificate of Global Citizenship, 40 hours of certified service hours, and a bronze level Presidential Service Award (BLV is a certifying institution). Currently, 100% of our alumni are either still in high school or have been accepted to University.

If you accept this volunteer position, you will become a part of our fundraising committee and report to the chair of the committee, who also sits on the Board of Directors.

Please visit our website, www.brightlightvolunteers.org, for more information on our unique programs, where our motto is Learn. Serve. Lead.

*This position will include consideration for a salaried position after a successful volunteer effort!
