The Place Bridge Academy in Denver is a public school that serves refugee and other immigrant populations. Boulder Valley ICO is an outreach program of the Sierra Club that provides free nature outings to children from low-income families, and our team at Place Bridge is growing. We are looking for volunteers to help us lead outings for these children and play a leadership role in the growth of our program at this school.
Most of our outings at Place Bridge are single-day jaunts (hiking, birding, fishing, mountain-biking, snowshoeing) but, with time, we hope that youth participants will graduate to backpacking and hut trips. Volunteers are needed to organize and lead these outings and to support the growth of the Place Bridge program through grant-writing and by assuming a leadership role within the team.
Boulder Valley ICO will train volunteers in outdoor leadership and will pay up to $185 every two years for Wilderness First Aid training (in addition to periodically offering WFA for free to our volunteers).
To get started, visit the Volunteer page of our website (www.boulderico.org/volunter) and follow the instructions to "Quick Join" the program.
