Description of Volunteer Opportunity:

What is the specific project?

• About The Research: The Japan Research Institute limited has to conduct macro-economic survey, rural survey, competitive analysis and business model analysis. To conduct the Project effectively, Japan Research Institute (JRI) have partnered with DRISTHEE FOUNDATION for field survey in India.

What is its goal?

• To Understand rural needs, daily and seasonal behavioral pattern, consumption attitudes, business transaction (income and expenditure) etc.

• To Understand business ecosystem in rural areas including:

• Structures of supply chains of commodities and services including commercial vehicles (motor truck), agricultural machinery, agricultural materials, agricultural management support, financial services

• Which organization has what functions to meet local needs, Financial transaction in particular payment, loans screening (due diligences) and repayment

• To identify appropriate interviewees, to arrange and implement interview researches with JRI and provide minutes of interviews.

• Support in documentation of the data from the interviews of the stakeholders.

• Accompany JRI for conducting the survey: guiding, coordinating, interviewing (communicating between JRI and the interviewees). The person to accompany will speak English and standard local language of the state to be visited.

Desired Skills and Expertise :

• Understanding of Local socio economic and political context.

• Knowledge of data analysis

• Proficiency in documentation, MS office and internet explorers

• Preferably who can speak in Punjabi and translate in English or Hindi.

• Good in community engagement

• Knowledge of Agriculture

• Good communication skills and respectful behaviour

Logistics

1. Estimated Time Commitment (Hours per Week): Average 42 hrs

2. Estimated duration of project - 1 month (1 st May -31 st may)

3. Location - On site, Punjab - Amritsar and Tran Taran

• IFFCO- Raya block and Jandiala block in Amritsar

• Non IFFCO- Budha Theh and Varpal in Amritsar.

Support

1. Stipend: INR. 6000 only

2. Certificate: You would be get a community service certificate from Drishtee

3. Travel allowance : Would be covered by Drishtee

4. Work related expenses - Would be covered by Drishtee
