Southern Maryland Community Network, Inc. is a non-profit mental health agency that serves the Southern Maryland area. We are currently seeking volunteers for our Board of Directors. The Board meets once a month on the third Tuesday at 8:00 am and the meetings last for one hour. Board Members are involved in agency decisions and vote on agency business throughout the year. The Board will be presented various plans (wage and compensation, risk management, compliance, strategic, etc.) annually to approve and give valuable feedback. The Board Members are also involved in helping the agency fundraise for annual events. Our Board Members play a crucial role in helping SMCN meet the needs of the individuals we serve and in accomplishing our mission.

Mission Statement

Southern Maryland Community Network, Inc. (SMCN) forms a partnership between people with mental health needs and their community to foster understanding, empowerment, integration and enhanced quality of life.

Description

SMCN is a private, non-profit mental health organization that has been operating since 1981. SMCN was formed by parents and concerned citizens who wanted to integrate mentally ill individuals into the community with the goal of rehabilitation and independent living. SMCN began as a humble, grass roots organization but has grown into an agency that now serves over 400 consumers within a Tri-County area in the Southern Maryland region. We have programs that help both children and adults suffering from mental illnesses work on their own personal goals for recovery. Our programs include: Residential Rehab; Targeted Case Management; Adult Crisis; In-Home Intervention; Psychiatric Rehab; and Supported Employment.
