Project need

Global Green is seeking to work with a finance or impact investing professional to join Global Green's project advisory group, and help to assess industrial revenue bonds or other public or impact investing financing instruments to help align geographic distribution of organic waste processing sites with the location of urban siting and soil needs. Our proposed strategy for aligning waste generation and recycling is the incorporation of waste processing systems and compost soil into green building and landscape design. On-site processing or distributed processing, and composting facilities and community gardens not only serve as distributed waste recovery centers that reduce the greenhouse gas emissions associated with hauling waste, but they also serve as educational tools for residents and green spaces that improve the quality of life in the community.

A consultant is sought to advise on what models are available for making such a system economically viable through either up front investment of infrastructure, back-end financing of end-markets or existing grants and incentive programs. Every year, over 37 million tons of food waste is incinerated or disposed of in landfills. The economic and nutritional value of this food is lost, negatively impacting the economy and the environment. We're seeking to work with professional volunteers in a variety of fields to address neighborhood scale infrastructure solutions for this immense challenge. Global Green has conducted an initial review of implementation strategies to conduct organic waste processing within, or in close proximity to, urban areas and align geographic distribution of processing sites with the location of urban soil needs in community gardens, parks, and landscaping.

We're seeking help from a consultant is to advise what city or neighborhood driven programs could be used to help finance or build these kinds of systems through public finance or impact investing. This is a national initiative.
