Lead an English conversation and discussion group of 5 people who are beginner to intermediate English-language learners - all Holocaust Survivors from the Former Soviet Union. The group meets weekly - ideally for an hour to two hours. Currently the group meets from 1 to 2:30 on Wednesday afternoons. This is a dedicated group of people in their 80s that attends these classes by choice. Curriculum directed by YOU - based on what works for the students, and with training and ongoing support provided. It's a great group and volunteering with them is guaranteed to light up your life. Some knowledge of Russian is required.

Description
Jewish Family and Children's Services (JFCS) of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties is the oldest social service agency west of the Mississippi. Since its inception, JFCS has provided people with the encouragement and tools they need to become productive, self-reliant members of society. With over 40 programs that address a wide range of service needs, JFCS empowers people of all ages, faiths and ethnic backgrounds, to live productive and healthy lives by providing a hand-up, not a handout. To accomplish its goals, JFCS relies on its professional staff and on thousands of acts of lovingkindness performed by its more than 2,000 dedicated volunteers who give of themselves to create a more caring community.
