ORGANIZATION: Dorothy's Light

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

  • Block Walk - visit businesses in a designated area and give 10 second intro and ask to post a flyer, counter tent card or other appropriate materials in the store. These businesses would include coffee shops, dry cleaners, restaurants and other appropriate businesses.

    • Orientation provided to all supporters. Supporters will not need to answer myriad questions, but staff will call store contact within 24 hours to follow-up and provide additional details and answer questions.

    • Blocks will be pre-identified and can be walked early in the day, early evening Monday - Saturday when businesses are open.

    • Time for each block walked with vary, but should range between 20 - 40 minutes.

    • Logs will be kept and follow-up made by staff, to businesses where materials were left.

    • A Place to Call Home/Dorothy’s Light staff will call each store contact to thank them for their support and continue to provide materials and develop ongoing relationships.

Dorothy's Light is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of foster children and adults with developmental disabilities throughout Arizona.

Description

Dorothy's Light is committed to supporting organizations that build awareness and offer solutions to address the emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual needs of foster children and adults with special needs. Dorothy's Light is currently working with A Place to Call Home, a foster care/adoption agency with programs in Mesa and Tucson. We are hoping that together, we can support the nearly 200 children and adults placed in their foster and developmental homes. In a secure and loving environment, it is our belief these adults and children will develop a new sense of responsibility and commitment to themselves and their futures.
