Do you know how to generate PR and publicity within your community? If writing effective press releases or securing special content stories is your strength, we need you! Looking for a volunteer with experience in marketing, publicity, PR and advertising to help secure stories in local papers, magazines, social media and other media outlets to help increase awareness for our New London event.
We are very excited to be relocating our October event to the Historic Downtown New London Waterfront district and want to create lots of buzz around this exciting move! Our Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of New London County event draws hundreds of participants every year and has raised more than $275,000 over the past 5 years! We expect our change of venue to help increase visibility and further grow our event to raise even more life-saving funds for breast cancer.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is more than just the name of a walk; it describes the progress we’re making together to save lives and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
Each year our walks are held nationwide to celebrate those who have battled breast cancer, educate about ways to reduce the risk, and empower communities to join the fight. Since 1993, nearly seven million walkers across the country have raised more than $400 million through Making Strides Against Breast Cancer - funding breakthrough breast cancer research and helping people stay well, get well, find cures, and fight back. In 2013 alone, nearly 800,000 walkers across the country collected $60 million to fight breast cancer.
Here in New England, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer has been taking place since 1993, and we have raised more than $46 million dollars. Each year more and more people come out to support the efforts of the American Cancer Society and join our cause. In 2013, over 3,000 supporters walked the 5K route and helped raise over $130,000 in New Haven County.
Our event is an empowering experience that attracts participants who are committed to taking an active role in creating a cancer-free world. Our passionate supporters are an important audience for your company, and our event offers a valuable opportunity to reach them and let the community know that you too are committed to eliminating breast cancer.
