J.U.G. (Jus Us Girls) Nation Jewels (JNJ) Youth Program is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit mentoring program for young girls’, 12-18 years of age designed to inspire, educate and equip them with life and leadership skills to increase their ability to succeed as young adults. Our program’s focus for the Jewels is to develop strength of character, leadership abilities, respect towards others & the community, affirmative behavior, and most importantly, a bond of sisterhood among peers.
We are looking for an energetic, highly motivated and experienced person to join our positive sisterhood as a volunteer Community Liaison/Outreach Coordinator (COC). The COC is a volunteer leadership position and is critical to the growth of the youth program. In this role, the COC is the connector between the business community and J.U.G. Nation Jewels Youth Program to bolster new partnerships, resources and services that will increase the growth and development of our youth participants. The COC will also coordinate local appearances to promote visibility and awareness of JNJ programs services to the community.
Position Responsibilities
- Coordinate school presentations or information vendor opportunities to promote increase program middle and high school students for future membership enrollment.
- Attend networking events or workshops to build and nurture strategic relationships with local key stakeholders and partner organizations.
- Develop promotional team to pass out event flyers for program’s community events.
- Synchronize with other program functional areas (Events, Communications, and Operations etc.) to develop contacts for coordinate program meetings and special events.
- Assist fundraising coordinator with seeking business contributions or funding sources to assist in defraying the cost of special events and programs.
- Uses computer applications or other automated systems, such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software in performing work assignments.
- Attend bi-weekly leadership conference calls.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
- Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in a private, not-for-profit, or government agency which involved public contact** and/or community/public relations†.
- Must be an independent self-starter with a strong ability to work with little to no supervision.
- Must be able to initiate projects and deliver solid results.
- Must have knowledge of available community resources.
- Must have proficient written and verbal communications skills.
- Must be proficient with the use of various social media outlets.
