Alliance for Girls' 5th Annual Conference: Togethe

Alliance for Girls' Together We Rise Summit will unite more than 500 extraordinary, intergenerational leaders of the girls' movement. From actresses to legislators, activists to funders to girl leaders, Together We Rise is convening the mavericks of the girls' movement to engage in critical conversations and illuminate a path forward that will lead us toward a brighter future for all. Together we can create a better world for girls and young women.

We are seeking one volunteer who can serve as a typist to help transcribe live speech for one of our deaf-blind panelists during the Gender Justice: Inclusive Movement Building session from 10:00-10:55am. (Volunteer must arrive by 9:30am.)

The Typist has to be fast and efficient so our panelist is able to participate and engage fully in the conversation. This Typist should be able to type what is being said accurately.

About Alliance for Girls

Mission Statement

Alliance for Girls mobilizes girls’ champions to address barriers facing girls, create conditions for their success, and advance systemic change to achieve equity. Our vision is to advance equitable communities in which every girl thrives.

Description

We are the largest regional alliance of girl-serving organizations and leaders in the country. Our membership includes 100+ organizations that employ 2,400 people with more than 5,100 volunteers serving more than 300,000 girls across six Bay Area counties.

The issues facing girls and young women are complex and multi-faceted. Alliance for Girls (AFG) is transforming the girls’ service sector from one of siloed, single-issue organizations, to a strong, connected network of organizations, with the necessary complexity and collective power to holistically meet girls’ needs and eliminate systemic barriers to their success.

Together we’re enabling new, integrated models for supporting girls with strong leadership, collaborative programming, original research and intergenerational, cross-disciplinary advocacy strategies.

We Believe:

  • That those closest to the problem are closest to the solution
  • In moving beyond the gender binary
  • That diverse leadership is more effective leadership
  • In the power of the collective
*"Girls" refers to gender expansive youth (cis girls, trans girls, non-binary youth, gender non-conforming youth, gender queer youth and any girl-identified youth).
