Raising A Reader MA is an early literacy and parent engagement program. Our mission is to help parents develop, practice, and maintain shared reading habits which foster their young children's vocabulary and language skills essential to reading readiness. We work throughout the state to offer a dual intervention of a book bag rotation program and parent education about interactive reading strategies, last year reaching nearly 12,000 children and their families.
The translation volunteer will translate key documents into the languages spoken by our families, primarily parent surveys that assess families' reading routines, and family contact that helps with recruitment for our events. Currently, we are looking for translation to Somali, Haitian Creole, and Cape Verdean Creole.
Translation can be done remotely, or you are welcome to come in to our office. We have a small and friendly office and volunteers have always been an important part of our office culture. Join us!
