Then consider becoming a Nature Center Ambassador!

Forming as a non-profit organization in 1970, Friends of Tryon Creek provides environmental education programs for all ages through camps, field trips, events and stewardship. The mission of Friends of Tryon Creek, in partnership with Oregon State Parks, is to inspire every community to identify, cultivate or reclaim their relationship with nature in this cherished urban forest.

Ambassadors play a foundational role in deepening individual and community relationships with nature. All volunteers at Tryon are Ambassadors that represent the values and vision of Friends of Tryon Creek and Oregon State Parks.

Volunteer Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of Friends of Tryon Creek, Oregon State Parks and the park
  • Greet and share information with visitors in the Nature Center
  • Nature Store stocking and sales
  • Front desk reception

This volunteer role requires an initial interview and training. Volunteers are supported by Friends of Tryon Creek and Oregon State Parks staff. Shifts are from 9am-12:30pm or 12:30pm - 4pm, and can be scheduled any day of the week. Time commitments can vary from weekly to once a month depending on your schedule.


2 Shifts

  • 09:00 AM to 12:30 PM
    Weekly or monthly shift every day of the week
  • 12:30 PM to 04:00 PM
    Weekly or monthly shift every day of the week
