The Event:
This event is an out and back 5k run/walk targeted at all ages and abilities. The race starts at Charlie’s Place Animal Shelter and utilizes Clear Creek Open Space and County Roads. The turn-around and aid stations for the 5k are located at Lawson Whitewater Park.
Following the event, there will be light food and refreshments and the shelter will be open for the public to come in and meet adoptable pets.
We need volunteers to man the BBQ booth, with proceeds going to Friends of Charlie's Place, along with volunteers to man water stations along the course. Course timers also needed.

Description
Friends of Charlies Place is a Non-Profit Organization dedicated to saving the lives of companion animals in Clear Creek and Gilpin Counties. Our goal is to partner with the Clear Creek/Gilpin Animal Shelter (Charlies Place) to support the needs of the animals at the shelter, to assist in placing the animals into appropriate permanent homes and to prevent and alleviate the suffering of the animals within our community. Since this organization is completely volunteer and community supported we work hard to give back to the community through Community Out-Reach Programs including: Humane Education, Basic Training, Emergency Funds, and routine dog/cat donations to the local food bank. We hope to improve the lives of both the animals and their companions within our community.
