Reporting directly to and working closely with the President and CEO, the Arts Programming Specialist will support Cheza Nami Foundation’s mission statement through developing play-based and creative art activities for the annual Taste of Africa event; create, design, and implement school year programs and projects, working together with local centers of learning; showcase and curate said art projects in an annual exhibition; and increase artistic, cultural, and educational opportunities for at-risk and lower-income youth, serving the Tri-Valley and Bay Area communities.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement an annual plan for outreach activities in the Tri-Valley community, and develop school year programming.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise a diverse team of volunteers to assist with art events as needed.
  • In collaboration with the CEO and President, meet with local artists to discuss artistic partnerships.
  • Research, identify, and implement project-funding opportunities through the use of Grant Station.
  • Manage grants related to arts, education, and community outreach projects.
  • Work with local businesses, public programs, and education sites to support Cheza Nami’s mission statement.
  • Develop, market, and coordinate outreach activities.
  • Write, apply for, and submit grant requests.
  • Perform administrative and financial duties such as tracking of expenses and administer the process for recruiting volunteers.
  • Assist with miscellaneous projects as assigned.

Cheza Nami is a California based 501(c)3 non-profit organization, with headquarters in Pleasanton, California that believes in a play based approach to cultural education. Cheza Nami encourages diversity awareness through African culture and uses dance, play and movement to deliver a unique learning experience.

Cheza Nami envisions a culturally diverse world where individuals of all ages can embrace the concept of global citizenship and understand the fundamental interconnectedness of all things.
