The award winning Midway Village Museum is the best institution for collecting, preserving and interpreting the history of the Rockford region. We are committed to educating and enriching our community by providing state-of-the-art exhibits, programs and events. A great deal of clerical support takes place behind the scenes to help make our guest experiences extraordinary.
Many departments in the museum need temporary and long-term volunteer assistance with data entry, filing, research, and other miscellaneous office duties. Volunteers will have the opportunity to assist in areas where they feel their skills are strongly matched to our needs. Some positions require Microsoft Word and Excel knowledge while others may require filing of forms, tracking data, research for special projects, or out bound phone calls.
Training:
Each department will train and instruct as needed per activity and assignment.
Essential Responsibilities/ Primary Activities:
- Assist with compiling data into a format that is easily read and interpreted by staff
- Assist with making phone calls to organizations, volunteers, and others based on project needs
- Assist in filing and sorting by organizing date, invoice numbers, alpha and numerical orders
- Research topics related to events, new projects, organizations, and other processes based on department need
Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, pick up, and stoop, understands computer programs and data entry, familiar with filing processes
- Availability on weekdays
- Willingness to work one on one with a staff person
- Able to work independently once the project is outlined and data explained
- Comfortable making phone calls and speaking with a variety of different people on the phone
Availability:
2-3 hours at a time any day Monday through Friday during normal business hours. We will do our best to work around your availability.

Welcome to the award-winning Midway Village Museum! The museum campus sits on a 148-acre campus conveniently located near I-90 in Rockford, Illinois. The museum is comfortably nestled among trees to create a beautiful ambiance at any time of the year. Our Victorian-era Village and Main Museum Center are centrally located on the campus within walking distance of each other.
