YMCA RAD Program
RAD Night at Tri Lakes YMCA

Designed by students, for students, RAD promotes sobriety in a fun, pressure-free environment. Our second annual RAD graduation party promotes the RAD mission during an identified heightened time of year for high school students to fall vulnerable to partying: celebrating Graduation. Free to High School students, we offer a fun celebratory alternative. Our event is a night to remember, with inflatables, food, live music, games, and more! Last year we made a huge impact, with over 500 D38 students in attendance. This year, with our efforts to achieve regional expansion, we are extending an invitation to D20, and hope to have 750-1,000 students in attendance!

We RELY on our fabulous volunteers to make this event possible. We are in need of lots of volunteers throughout the course of the event. There are several slots that volunteers can sign up for:

5-9PM Set Up Shift: Help needed with set up of all inflatables/large activities. Work will be fairly physical!

8PM-1:30AM Full event chaperoning shift: Help needed with supervision of all areas and activities (inside and outside) **This is our greatest need!

8:00PM-11:00PM chaperoning shift: Help needed supervising all areas and activities (inside and outside).

10:30PM-1:30AM chaperoning & tear down shift. Help needed supervising all areas and activities (inside and outside) AND with breaking down event.

Volunteering for this event alone is considered a specialty event at the YMCA. All regular volunteers, per the YMCA, must pass a background check.

Thank you for considering supporting this phenomenal event!

Mission Statement

RAD is a student based team that stands for sobriety in a pressure free, fun environment- by students, for students.

Description

The Ryan Pappas Memorial Foundation is partnered with the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region to offer RAD (Real Alternatives to Drugs and Drinking) - a program for High School Students. After a drunk driving accident in Monument in 2014, RAD was founded to address this concern for students in District 38. Designed by students, for students, RAD promotes sobriety in a fun, pressure-free environment. RAD nights are hosted at the Tri-Lakes YMCA every Friday night, averaging 200-400 high school students weekly! Now established, RAD is looking to expand regionally - to include other school districts soon. As a Non-Profit organization, we rely on the support of volunteers to chaperone our events - so that we can keep as many teens safe as possible. Thank you for considering supporting us!
