Mentor-Mentee

Seven Tepees Youth Program is a nonprofit, community based organization that provides comprehensive youth development and college access and persistence services to over 1,000 youth annually through two programs: The Learning Center and The College & Career Program. Our Learning Center works with low income middle and high school students as well as recent college graduates for a period of more than ten years - spanning middle school and high school graduation into the first few years of college or career - offering academic support and guidance, college and career advising, environmental education, mentoring, job training and counseling. Our College and Career Program at Mission High School, a public school serving predominantly low income and first generation students, includes college and career advising, scholarship assistance, scholarships, test preparation support and college application assistance. Seven Tepees has an annual operating budget of approximately $1 million and inhabits the top floor of a building owned by the organization.

Mission:

The mission of Seven Tepees is to work with urban youth to foster the skills they need to make lifelong positive choices and to create their own opportunities for success. Founded in 1995 by retired Juvenile Justice Daniel Weinstein and Native American healer Hully Fetico, Seven Tepees began as a summer camp where youth lived in seven tepees - one representing each continent of the world.

Volunteers make Seven Tepees Youth Program possible, as we rely on your support to offer students every opportunity available.

Job Description:

Seven Tepees Youth Program is looking for a graphic designer to support the design of the annual graduation program book. The program book is typically 5.5" x 8.5" and less than 16 total pages, including the night-of agenda, senior class photos, scholarships and honorees. The designer must have their own access to design software.

Seven Tepees staff will provide all content, including text and photos. Designer has creative freedom to design layout and overall look of the program book, using Seven Tepees' branding guide for color choice, fonts, etc.

Seven Tepees staff would like the opportunity for 3 rounds of drafts and edits before reaching a final file.

Our graduation ceremony is on May 18, 2017 and we will need the program book in-house by Wed. May 17, sending to print on Fri. May 12.

Seven Tepees staff will handle the order and print production of the program book.

The fair market value of your work can be considered an in-kind charitable donation, and Seven Tepees Youth Program will provide a tax acknowledgment letter for your gift of time, energy and talent.

This is an excellent project for a local professional desiring to give back to their community or current student or recent grad looking to build their portfolio.
