Help remove invasive species while enjoying the prairie grasses and wildflowers of this dry sand prairie with wonderful views of the Mississippi River! Come lend a hand to help improve the habitat of this unique place.

This event is led by Mississippi Park Connection and the National Park Service who will provide necessary tools and gloves. Please wear long pants and close-toed shoes for this outdoor project. Bring water too. See the Grey Cloud Dunes webpage for a map and description of the site.

Parking directions: in Cottage Grove, from US Hwy 61 0.75 mile S on Jamaica Ave, then 0.4 mile W on 100th St, then 1 mile S on Ideal Ave, then 0.5 mile W on 110th St. Park in lot at dead end.

Description

The Volunteers-In-Parks program is a joint program with Mississippi Park Connection. Mississippi National River and Recreation Area represents America's greatest river, the Mississippi, which weaves together the natural and cultural heritage and economic vitality of the region. The National Park Service works with partners to foster increased citizen awareness, advocacy, and enjoyment of the resources of the Mississippi River.

Volunteer-In-Parks provides people with opportunities to discover, experience, and enjoy the diversity of the Mississippi River while also preserving it for future generations through volunteer restoration projects and education programs.
