We have an ongoing need for music instructors. We are looking for dynamic, motivated instructors to give private lessons to children in conjunction with Orchestrating Diversity's Urban Youth Orchestra and Junior Urban Music Program. Hours vary and are outside of school hours.

We also need music instructors to participate in the Urban Youth Orchestra and the Junior Urban Music Program. This is an ongoing need. Hours for the Urban Youth Orchestra during the school year are Saturdays, from 9-12 am, and Tuesdays and Thursday night sectionals from 5-7 pm. For the Junior Urban Music Program, classes meet from 5-6 pm M-F.

During the summer, The JUMP meets from 9-12 am and the UYO from 9-3 pm.

We are seeking violin, percussion, woodwind, and brass instructors.

About Lemp Neighborhood Arts Center

Location:

3301 LEMP AVE, SAINT LOUIS, MO 63118, US

Mission Statement

The Lemp Neighborhood Arts Center seek to transform the lives of young people through the development of high personal expectations, effective social interactions, and life skills gained in the pursuit of musical excellence. As our main focus, Orchestrating Diversity: El Sistema St. Louis provides high-level orchestral music education to area youth, especially those who have fewer opportunities to learn and engage in the arts.

Description

For 28 years, the Lemp Neighborhood Arts Center has provided a space for touring and local artists, young musicians and young people who see the value in creating community around socially relevent music. We are an entirely volunteer music venue dedicated to all-ages concerts of experimental, non-commercial and youth music. As a performance space we have hosted nearly three thousand shows of underground, unknown or under-rated touring acts, including groups such as Animal Collective, Xiu Xiu, This Town Needs Guns, Phosphorescent, Native, Megafaun, and thousands more. Guided by a strong "do-it-yourself" ethic, we conduct all general operations, administration and maintenance of the venue, from working the door and soundboard at shows to making posters and corresponding with international musicians.

As a 501(c)3 not-profit corporation, we are always open to people seeking to fulfill a need or desire to offer community service. More importantly, we are always looking to grow our community of young people who find the values of independent music, experimentation and social change important. If you like what's happening here and wish to become involved, please email us at contact@lemp-arts.org.
