Mission Statement
United Ministries serves and empowers those on the transformative journey to self-sufficiency. Our vision is a community working together to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive in Greenville.
Description
Located in downtown Greenville’s West End, United Ministries has been working since 1970 to give every member of our community the opportunity to participate in the prosperity of our community. Originally established by local congregations to meet the crisis needs of people living in poverty, our agency has evolved to focus on developing the potential each family possesses to become self-sufficient - and even to thrive. Our integrated service model discourages dependency on charity and promotes the dignity of work by providing crisis assistance, education and employment assistance, and homeless services to Greenville citizens in need. We do this through five programs: Emergency Assistance, Adult Education, Striving to Thrive Economic Mobility Coaching Program, Housing, and Place of Hope (day shelter).
Volunteers are the heart and hands of our organization, serving in every aspect of our work. Won’t you join us? Your participation will help us to realize our vision: a community working together to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive in Greenville.
