We need your help to grow food for families in need and to maintain a fun space for thousands of kids to come on educational visits!!

Come help our young non-profit educational farm to thrive as we plant, clean, paint, and much more.

We love volunteers and need your help!! Depending on the season, volunteers will help in all aspects of the farm. This includes planting, harvesting, cleaning, mulching, painting, and more!

Volunteer Dates are starting now for the season!

  • Large Saturday Volunteer Days

April 29th 9:30 Am- 2 PM

May 20th 9:30 AM-2 PM

June 10th 9:30 AM- 2 PM

You can come any time for all or part of the day! Help grow food for those in need! Get amazing exercise and free pizza.

For any Volunteer dates:

Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty. Bring a water bottle if you can.

The farm is located at Novick Brothers at 3660 S. Lawrence Street. It is in deep south Philly, down near the stadiums. The G bus goes very close to there. It is about a fifteen minute walk from the AT &T station on the broad street line. There is plenty of parking or bike space.

When you get to the large parking lot - come around to the far side where you will see the farm.

We are now gearing up for this next season and are very excited for volunteer help, that is so desperately needed.

We also have volunteer times scheduled every Wednesday from 1 PM-sunset.

There will be many more dates scheduled for May and the summer.

Thanks so much for your interest and I hope we connect!

We can host groups outside of these scheduled times! Just contact me.

Only with volunteer help we can continue run our farm so we can to provide food for those in need, a peaceful space for refugees to come together and improve their health, and an educational platform for hundreds of students.

About us:

The educational farm provides organic, culturally appropriate produce to refuges and South Philly residents in need. The farm programs have an intergenerational focus as elder gardeners work with youth to share both farming and cooking knowledge. We need your help and generosity!

In our current and largest program to date, with the generous support of the Novick Brothers Corporation, Grow Philly is connecting more Philadelphians than ever with high-quality educational programs and healthy, nutritious food at Novick Family Urban Farm. Children from local schools and childcare centers visit the farm and participate in hands-on learning experiences focused on nutrition, healthy eating, healthy choices and cooking skills. Teens employed in the summer and fall are educated on the techniques of healthy, sustainable growing, and they work the farm -- planting, maintaining, and harvesting a range of nutritious crops. Students also run a low‐income farm stand in South Philly and host cooking classes.

In our first season - we donated over 10,000 pounds of produce and sold 9,000 pounds at our low-income farm stand. We trained 7 teens in sustainable farming, empowered a group of 5 adult refugee interns, and taught 785 kids about nutrition and farming.

Farm Mission Statement: The Novick Family Urban Farm is our non-profit educational farm program that is dedicated to promoting healthy choices, nutrition, sustainability and community engagement. By providing hands on learning opportunities to local Childcare programs, we are able to educate children at their youngest on healthy eating and nutrition, promoting long term healthy choices. We are also focused on building community relationships, not only through the produce we donate, but through the outreach programs we partner in.
