ORGANIZATION: MoveFwd

MoveFwd is looking for a volunteer to help staff the Drop in Center for the summer months. The qualifications needed are:

  • Age 21 or above
  • Like being around young people, and create a welcoming and non-judgmental environment
  • Light tasks, ie. sorting, cleaning, serving/preparing food
  • Can commit to one or two regular days weekly for the months of June, July and August 2:30-5:00pm
  • Be willing to submit to a background check prior to starting, and attend an orientation

MoveFwd is on a mission to ensure that every teen and young adult is safely housed and working towards their educational goals. MoveFwd will provide accessible, responsive counseling that helps teens and young adults find hope for improving relationships, discover housing solutions and work towards a bright future. We will be a collaborative community leader in providing safe housing for teens and young adults.

Description

  • MoveFwd Counseling. MoveFwd masters-level counselors work with young people and their families to identify problems, draw on strengths and build solutions.
  • MoveFwd Drop-in Center and Homeless Youth Outreach. The MoveFwd Drop-in Center in Hopkins is a place where homeless young people can come to access case management and referrals. We provide help with immediate basic needs such as a simple meal, a bus card to get to work, or a sleeping bag. MoveFwd homeless youth case managers also provides intensive hands-on support to help homeless young people find immediate and safe shelter, assess their long-term housing and employment options, enroll in health care and social service resources, and draw on positive support networks.
  • MoveFwd Housing. MoveFwd operates a youth transitional housing program in the form of scattered-site apartments across the west metro suburbs.
