TLP Medical Coordinator help our Medical Director track medical appointments and work with our fosters to resolve medical issues. The person interested in this position will have some medical or veterinary experience. Some of the details included in this position are below.
1. Heart worm treatment coordinator. Identify hw positive dogs. Figure out dose and mail out doxy and hw preventative as well as instructions. Work closely with fosters to educate on hw treatment process and notify of upcoming hw tx sessions. Communicate with both the vet and the person hosting the sessions. 2. General medical complaints. Be available by text or phone to field any medical complaints. This could include intestinal worms, lacerations, spay/ neuter complications, URI's and GI issues. Must be able to determine if complaint warrants a vet visit and make appointments with vets across the metroplex. Should establish working relationships with vets, pursue rescue discounts and attempt to keep costs down. Prefer someone with a medical background or a vet tech. 3. Dallas puppy coordinator: Communicate and educate fosters in the Dallas area regarding puppy care. Administer vaccines and dewormer on schedule. Field any sick puppy calls.

Our goal is to educate the public about a breed that often falls victim to breed specific legislation, discrimination, and cruelty and promote responsible pet ownership through spay/neuter initiatives, vaccinations, and training resources.
Description
The Love Pit is a foster based rescue that is based in the Dallas Fort Worth area. We rescue death row dogs from DFW shelters and place them in foster homes until permanent homes can be found.
