  • 16 people are interested

Please join PETA volunteers for a clean up of the trash at the Ocean View Beach Park (100 W. Ocean View Avenue) in Norfolk as part of the 29th Annual Clean the Bay Day sponsored by Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Keep Norfolk Beautiful. This is a family friendly event but volunteers under the age of 16 must bring a responsible adult with them. Please wear closed toed shoes, bring a waterbottle, and wear sunscreen! Trash bags and gloves will be provided.

Please plan to meet in the parking lot on the north side of the park. Any questions contact Melissa at MelissaL@petaf.org or 757-962-8416.

Ocean trash ranks as one of the most serious pollution problems of our time. Much more than an eyesore, trash in the water and on the shore affects the health of people, wildlife and economies. Trash on beaches and in the water injures swimmers and beachgoers, and harms wildlife that eats it or get trapped in its mess.

Thank you for caring about the planet!

About People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)

Location:

501 Front Street, Norfolk, VA 23510, US

Mission Statement

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the largest animal rights organization in the world, with more than 3 million members and supporters.

PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in the clothing trade, in laboratories, and in the entertainment industry. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of beavers, birds, and other "pests" as well as cruelty to domesticated animals.

PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns.

Description

PETA is dedicated to establishing and defending the rights of all animals. PETA operates under the simple principle that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment.
