Huntington-Oyster Bay Audubon, a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to protecting wildlife and habitat is seeking a COMMITTED volunteer Communications Coordinator to raise public awareness of our organization through online and offline channels.
As our Communications Coordinator, you will:
Work with the chapter president in aligning public relations and donor relations strategies and communications
Identify and develop relationships with media personnel, community partners and agencies to promote our activities, events and initiatives
Coordinate media requests and follow up, while serving as the secondary media contact as needed
Write compelling, interesting and lively descriptions of our activities for online and offline outlets
Assist with Facebook as needed
Measure and report on the effectiveness of communications activities
Assist with other external and internal communications duties as needed, such as press releases
Position requirements:
1-3 years of communications experience - creating and implementing strategies and developing online content. A bachelor’s degree (or working towards it) in journalism, marketing or PR is preferred.
You’re a communications dynamo and can write a press release, Facebook update or newsletter article that is effective and compelling.
You can handle managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.
You are confident and effective with the office suite, website content management, email marketing and social media networks.
The work will be done from your home, although there may be physical meetings with board or committee members

A chapter of National Audubon Society, serving Huntington and northern Oyster Bay townships. We host free monthly environmental education programs as well as monthly children's programs.
