We are going to clean and repair our cemeteries!
Hebrew Burial & Free Loan Association of New Haven (HBFLANH) and the Yale Alumni Club of New Haven are teaming up to clean-up our cemeteries for the Yale Day of Service on Sunday, May 17, from 12 - 3pm. You do not need a Yale affiliation to register.
We will be raising sunken stones, photographing grave markers, repairing stones, and helping to ensure that the people buried here are treated with respect.
There will be light tasks, as well as ones for getting dirty.
It might be a little warm, so please dress appropriately. Water will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring reusable water containers, as well as their own lunch or snack if desired.
HBFLANH provides free loans, and free burial plots to needy Jews in the New Haven Area. We maintain two Jewish Cemeteries in East Haven with over 900 graves.

We provide free burial plots and loans to indigent Jewish people in the New Haven area.
Description
The Hebrew Burial & Free Loan Association of New Haven, Inc. (HBFLA) offers interest-free loans to individuals and families whose needs are urgent and who may not qualify through normal financial resources. Interest-free loans instead of charity, fill an important gap in our social system by promoting self-sufficiency with dignity. HBFLA affirms the ancient biblical requirement for interest-free lending by offering assistance to Jewish people in need with the goal of helping them to lead more rewarding and responsible lives. We manage two cemeteries in the New Haven area and provide free burial plots to individuals who would otherwise not be able to afford a proper Jewish burial.
